Lessons from a College Class Continue to Provide Instruction and Learning
Reflections on the Impacts from a College Course Last a Lifetime
O n this weekend each and every year, when we celebrate the life and incredible contributions of Martin Luther King, Jr., I reflect back to one of my St. Mary’s College of Maryland classes, taken during Winter Term (“mini-mester”), when a group of students would gather at the home of our Professor on the outskirts of Washington, D.C., to discuss our readings on topics which included nonviolence, civil disobedience, and social justice. As each year passes, I come to appreciate even more, the pivotal turning point that class was and the impact it made on my life. I am so grateful for that professor and the lessons that have served me well through my lifetime!
